Árborg municipality has in the recent years developed plans for the municipality employees and elected representatives for dealing with public safety challenges, fires and economic collapse to name a few. The plan was ratified by the council in the spring of 2022.

The plan outlines how the municipality should approach risk analysis, mitigation, response preparedness and action management. Municipalities need to pan for the long term because it can take years to recover from disasters and their effect on society. By getting to know the needs of municipalities in times of emergency and reconstruction, rescue teams can look at how they can support the municipalities. It is clear that the power of rescue teams is great. It will be discussed how rescue teams can raise the bar to reduce risk and strengthen preparedness in society.
