The camp team works to gain experience and knowledge in the installation and operation of camps. The team assists with larger missions, e.g. setting up a mission control centre, facilities for rescue and search groups and similar tasks. REY-SAR has generally owned a number of large tents and various related equipment. The team was founded in 1932 and has been operating for 90 years. In the past, the equipment was not used regularly, so its care and condition was sometimes unclear. In the spring of 2009, REY-SAR started working with the Icelandic Search and Rescue Team's international unit and a specific team was founded, the camp team. REY-SAR’s work with the international unit required them to improve and organise their equipment to meet the standards international rescue teams must fulfil. Even though involvement with the international unit was the reason the camp team was founded, the team has always focused on domestic operations, although the experience of international projects has proved helpful. My lecture will cover the team’s history, organisation, equipment, examples of what has worked well and what has not, and much more.
