Einar was in charge of dealing with wild fires that ignited as a direct result of the eruption in Litli Hrutur in the year 2023. It needed tremendous man power to estinguish these fires and an "all hands on deck" assistance was needed from neighbouring Fire departments. It was really a close call since the fire was close to ignite a deeper lying moss. That could have resulted in direct threat to majort transport routhes on the Reykjanes peninsula. Einar will review the actions of responders in this case, and look ahead to what we could expect if volcanic activity continues on the peninsula.
Einar Sveinn is the Chief of the Fire department of Grindavik, born in Dalvik in the north of Iceland. Einar is a certified fire man and has finished all required courses for fire prevention.
