The lecture will go over the forming and the building up of rapid response groups within ICE-SAR and their current status.The nature of tasks for rapid response groups have changed since the first groups were formed over 30 years ago. Points discussed will be how to best build a rapid response group and their training emphasis. What is a good rapid response group? How do those groups work with other rescuers?Is the idea of rapid response groups an obsolete one or are they an underutilized resource?.
Is it sensible and realistic to form rapid response groups outside of the Reykjavik area?The future of rapid response units will be discussed and what possibilites we have in their development in the near future.
Ágúst Þór Gunnlaugsson (1987) started rescue team training in 2004 and has been active in mountain rescue since 2007.
