The recent year, we have increased collaborative effort to enhance maritime safety, particularly focusing on mass rescue operations following accidents at sea. Increased cruise traffic have underscored the importance of preparedness and the effectiveness of exercises in improving response capabilities. In the North Atlantic, cooperation with cruise ship industry has been instrumental in preventing accidents, highlighting the significance of proactive measures. Iceland has developed a comprehensive response plan that aims to address group accidents at sea, ensuring a swift and coordinated response across various locations within its jurisdiction. In this lecture will go through exercises, national and international cooperation, contingency planing and other factors that will enhance maritime safety in Icelandic waters.
