Why is there a need for a rescue team in Nuuk? Qamutit SAR group was founded in 2011 to assist first responders when it comes to rescue on land during the winter months. The team consists of 15 members and their work corresponds in many ways to the work of Icelandic rescue teams. In the year 2022 Qamotit and ICE-SAR started to co-operate and we traveled to Nuuk to teach 2 courses in avalanche search and rescue and basic operational proceduers and co-ordination on site. Three members of the Nuuk team came to Iceland in 2023 to participate in further studies regarding avanalches. The lecture will cover the co-operation between Aamutit SAR group and ICE-SAR and the importance of it.
