Hefring Marine - Fatigue and Risk Management in SAR Marine Environments

Próf. Magnús Þór Jónsson CTO, Hefring Marine

Karl Birgir Björnsson CEO, Hefring Marine

Workshop Overview:
This workshop examines the challenges of fatigue and operational risks encountered by crew members during Search and Rescue (SAR) missions, particularly in demanding sea conditions. Participants will learn about the effects of these factors on performance, decision-making, and safety in high-pressure environments. The session introduces the Intelligent Marine Assistance System (IMAS), developed by Hefring Marine, which supports SAR vessel operators in managing crew fatigue, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing safety through real-time monitoring and vessel guidance. The workshop includes a demonstration illustrating the effects of g-forces and fatigue, highlighting how IMAS’s features help reduce physical strain and support mission success in high-risk operations.

Key Topics: Managing fatigue in SAR operations, Real-time vessel performance monitoring, Reducing crew strain through optimal speed guidance, Practical examples of IMAS in SAR missions and Environmental responsibility and fuel efficiency in maritime operations

IMAS: Boosting Safety and Reducing Fatigue for SAR Teams in High-Risk Missions
The Search and Rescue (SAR) team faces immense challenges, especially during missions in demanding sea conditions. To support these critical operations, Hefring has developed the Intelligent Marine Assistance System (IMAS), designed to enhance operational efficiency, improve safety, and help manage crew fatigue. IMAS offers real-time guidance that mitigates physical strain, ensuring that SAR teams can focus on their vital mission with reduced risk and increased effectiveness.
For more insights on how IMAS addresses the challenges of crew fatigue and operational risks, join Karl B. Björnsson and Magnús Þ. Jónsson as they discuss the impact of G-forces, fatigue, and how IMAS's advanced features support mission success in high-risk environments.
