53y old commissioned officer (captain) at DEMA Danish Emergency Management Agency and have worked with national fire and rescue services for more than 30 years, both nationaly and international. Expert in public safety diving -rescue dive-instructor and appointed examiner for the Danish Commercial SCUBA Diver Exams. Speciality in North Atlantic Arctic SAR in Greenland and Faroe Island, and WET USAR operations. Vice-chairman of the volunteer organization REDNINGSDYKKER.dk -a national advocate organization for public safety diving in Denmark. Have several experiences on SAR missions on and in water aided by sonar scanner technology and divers. Has been deployed as teamleader for the tsunami clean-up and environmental response in Northwest Greenland in 2017.
In summer 2017 two small villages in Northwest Greenland was hit by a tsunami caused by a landslide, that forced moren than 200 people to flee from their homes. Danish Emergency Management Agency was asked for assistance of local Greenland authority to aid with environmental response and wet search and recovery of four people missing after the tsunami. This mission was on the request of Danish Defence's Joint Arctic Command and Arctic Respond in Greenland. Civil Protection officer Peter Hwan Lajgaard was deployed for early reconnaissance and as a teamleader for a joint group of rescue divers and WET USAR specialist from Denmark and Greenland.
